Choosing the Best Binding Option A major consideration when choosing a binding option is determining its final use. · Spiral Binding and Wire-O Twin Loop are great options for a book that needs to lie flat while open. Software companies will frequently use this option because it allows the user to reference the pages in a manner conducive to unencumbered examination. · Saddle-Stitch Binding is the simplest and most inexpensive. This option is used mostly for booklets, product literature and magazines. It can be produced with a self-cover, which uses the same paper for the cover as the text pages, or with a more durable cover stock. · Perfect Binding is a very popular and affordable option with great flexibility (especially when doing larger runs). It is seen mostly on books and reference guides. A minimum page count of 35 sheets of paper is required for this option (call for details). · Thermal Tape Binding is produced in-line on the DocuTech's. This is a viable option for phone and personnel directories. Colors are somewhat limited and the books will not lie flat, but some find it an affordable option. · Stitch Upper
Left is ideal for a few sheets of paper that need to remain intact during
distribution. This method is most commonly used for letters, mailers and
contracts. |
