Pre-Press: Top 10 Considerations

  Pre-Press

1. Be compatible, make sure we support the programs and fonts you plan on using

2. Provide adequate bleeds on your piece

3. Print out disk contents and a brief explanation of your files to submit along with your job

4. Do not nest files in your layout programs. Always supply the source files for fonts and graphics. Converting fonts to outlines when possible is also acceptable

5. Convert all spot colors to process, if your job will be printed in four-color process

6. Do not size or rotate .eps and .tiff files in the page layout program

7. Do not send .pdf files to be output on our digital press (see FAQ QMDI section for more info.)

8. Always send a printout of your artwork. If possible send both a composite and a color separated version

9. Make sure to compress all files when sending files via e-mail or FTP

10. Name all spot colors exactly the same name in the drawing program and in the layout program. For example, if you are using Pantone 202 CV make sure when imported into another program it is not reading it as Pantone CVC. A good rule of thumb is to use the version of the color from your drawing program and not create a new color for it in the page layout program
